The Astronomy GCSE was an extra subject (on top of my other GCSEs) that I learned in after school sessions! I remember learning about our planet, the Moon and how the two interact as well as our place in the Solar System and the Galaxy. We learned about stars and some important mathematical formulas. There was a coursework element and I chose to use observations to draw a map on the lunar surface and using photos taken of the ‘dark side’ of the Moon to map that too! A friend of mine took long exposure photos of the night sky to capture star trails so she could measure the Earth’s rotation, very cool!
