      MAST stands for Mega-Amp Spherical Tokamak. Going backwards, a tokamak is the type of plasma-containing fusion device, spherical is the shape of the plasma, and mega-amp is a description of how powerful the device is (mega-amp means it is roughly medium-sized compared to other reactors)
