      Hi race389end,

Yes. My aim is to spend it to arrange a visit for year 1 and 2 local school kids to our laboratory, a scientist-themed trip. The prize is sufficient for the transportation cost.

Yes, £500 can be made to go a long way for visual aids and resources that could be taken to schools, which is where I would use the money. Realistically to also display and attend large science fairs I would need to seek money from other sources of funding, such as learned societies (like the Royal Society of Biology or British Society for Plant Pathology) and/or other schemes (it is all about knowing where to look!).

Definitely, £500 goes a long way! Lots of science communication can be done for free, but it’s good to be able to fund transport and equipment for local schools so everyone gets the opportunity to engage in science and so we can better demonstrate our work. Some bigger things need more money, but even just talking about science is a great start.

I’m looking to donate to charity so any amount would be a massive help!
